WELCOME to the 10th FIAPAC Congress, Edinburgh 2012

It is a great pleasure to announce the 2012 FIAPAC Congress “Unwanted pregnancy – A fact of life”. Please reserve the days 19‐20 October 2012 for the 10th FIAPAC Congress in Edinburgh. The city has a strong tradition for successful staging of medical congresses due to the strong scientific environment and excellent meeting facilities. FIAPAC is delighted to invite you to Edinburgh for our 10th meeting which is expected to attract delegates from all over the world. An exciting programme has been organised for the 2012 Congress, including plenary lectures, symposia, oral communications and poster sessions, while ‘Speed Dating’ and ‘Meet the Expert’ sessions are also included in the format of the congress. Specific technical aspects and the current state of the art will be presented as well as more general topics on the issue of unwanted pregnancy. Hear about the latest results from scientific research and discuss these findings with the experts. But, most importantly, the congress will provide an opportunity to meet, to exchange ideas, for networking and collaboration. Right from the start, FIAPAC Congresses have been attended by numerous disciplines working in abortion care: counsellors, administrators, nurses and doctors. There is also a tradition of attendance by policy makers, researchers, women’s groups, global leaders in reproductive health, lawyers, ethicists and others.

FIAPAC Congresses provide a forum where all issues related to Reproductive Health can openly be discussed with like‐minded colleagues including topics such as varied administrative, social, medical, legal and political issues. For all these reasons, I hope you will join FIAPAC and find attending the 10th FIAPAC Congress in Edinburgh stimulating and rewarding.
