Assistent Treasurer Bio Lucie Van Crombrugge, 27/11/1944 Historian of descent at the Ghent-University, she engaged in the seventies in the Belgian movement for abortion out of the Penal Code. From 1983 until now she worked in the abortion clinic in Ghent. Starting as a counsellor, she grew through the illegal period into the legal period (1990). The last of the Mohicans, as she became an abortion provider through political activism and medical and counselling professionalism. Schooling was paramount through actual practice in her clinic in Ghent, through the presidency for a long period of the 6 Flemish abortion centres and through active participation in the international abortion and contraception conference scenery ( ESC- FIAPAC- IPPF ). As a mother of three and a grand-mother of six, all so wanted siblings, she hopes to end her professional career in writing her memoirs. The storey of a Marxist-feminist historian, whose fate it was to perform in abortion care, as early and as late a women needed it, because her prime directive was: the love for wanted children. |
